AJ secures Hodgson praise
05 Jan 2009 - 07:12:26
Fulham's record signing Andrew Johnson won praise from Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson after guiding his side through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The 27-year-old scored both goals in the 2-1 victory at Sheffield Wednesday, taking his tally to six in 18 games since his £10.5million summer arrival from Everton.
Hodgson commented: "He's now scored six goals and provoked two penalties which Danny Murphy scored.
"Had he taken those penalties, he would have eight goals, which is a fantastic record because he missed the start of the season.
"That's what we bought him to do. He's small in stature but so competitive. Even against people four or five inches taller, he competes with them.
"He's done very well for us."
Johnson missed the opening weeks of the new season with a thigh strain, after becoming Fulham's record signing.
