AJ confident goals will come
25 Sep 2008 - 13:43:18
Fulham striker Andrew Johnson is confident of hitting the goal trail despite a slow start to life at Craven Cottage.
The England forward joined the Cottagers for around £8million from Everton during the summer, but began the new season on the treatment table.
Johnson has returned to feature in the last three games but, despite not finding the net, is confident that the goals will come in a new-look strike partnership alongside Bobby Zamora.
"I was injured for a long time and I didn't play many games pre-season, so to play my first game against Bolton was tremendous for me because it was my first competitive game for three-and-a-half months," he told the club's official website.
"I'm pretty pleased with the way I've been playing, my touch is feeling good and I'm feeling positive.
"I could do with a goal but that will come in time. I've only played three games so I'm not worried about that.
"The main thing is that the boys have been putting me in the right places at the right times.
"My fitness is feeling good. I've been feeling a little bit tired towards the last 20 minutes of games.
"But I can get even sharper and I'm feeling good and positive."
