Adams relishing Cottage return
Micky Adams is looking forward to returning to Fulham for his Port Vale side's Carling Cup second-round tie.[LNB] Adams started the London club's revival when he first moved into management back in 1996, helping the Cottagers avoid relegation out of the Football League before guiding them to promotion the following season.[LNB]But just 18 months after taking over, he was surprisingly sacked in September 1997 by new owner Mohamed Al-Fayed and replaced by Ray Wilkins and Kevin Keegan. Fulham eventually went on to reach the Premier League as quickly as 2001 thanks to a further two promotions.[LNB]And after being paired with Fulham later this month, Adams told Vale's official website: "From a personal point of view it's a fantastic draw. For sentimental reasons going back to Craven Cottage, I started my managerial career there so I have got very, very fond memories. I am delighted.[LNB]"We are going to be really up against it because they are a Premier League club and they have got bags of quality. They won't be taking us lightly and I think it will be a major task for us to go down there and win."[LNB]He added: "It has changed dramatically since I was there but it will be nice for me to go down there and see some of my old friends and see the fans again because they were a different class to me."
