Aaron Hughes set to retire from International football

Northern Ireland captain Aaron Hughes is to retire from international football at the end of the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.[LNB] Over and out: Aaron Hughes is set to end his international career this year[LNB]The Fulham defender is expected to play his last international in the final qualifier away to Italy on November 11.[LNB]Hughes, who will be 32 in November, has won 79 caps for Northern Ireland.[LNB]Hughes told BBC Radio Ulster: 'I had thought about doing it (retiring) at the end of the last campaign.[LNB]'It would have been nice to go out on a high by qualifying to a major finals but it was not meant to be.[LNB]'But it is good we have had realistic chances of qualifying in the last couple of campaigns.[LNB]'I knew halfway through this one that it was my last. I feel now is a good time while I am fit and playing well.'
