Wiltord announces retirement

Former France and Arsenal striker Sylvain Wiltord has announced his retirement from football, according to his current club Nantes.

Wiltord began his career at Rennes (1993-1997) before spending three fruitful seasons at Bordeaux.

With Bordeaux he won a first French league title, in 1999 when he also finished the league's top scorer on 22 goals.

He then move to Arsenal, where he would spend four seasons. After his first season in London, Wiltord won a Euro 2000 winners' medal with France.

Wiltord helped Arsenal to league titles in 2002 and 2004, before signing for French giants Lyon, with whom he won the league title in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

He also had subsequent spells at Rennes, Marseille, Metz and Nantes.
