The number one top European Championship goalscorer is none other than the current president of UEFA, Michel Platini.

Platini picked up 72 caps for France while scoring 41 goals.

Nine of those goals came at Euro 1984.

He represented his country for 11 years and spent the majority of his club career playing on French soil for both Nancy and Saint-Etienne.

In 1982 he moved to Juventus and played for the Italian giants for five years.

His 15 year career earned him 580 appearances and 312 goals, it is therefore no surprise that he is often remembered as one of the greatest midfielders to play the game.
