Friendlies - France humbled by China

France's World Cup preparations went from bad to worse as they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to China.

Deng Zhuoxiang's 68th-minute goal was enough to hand Raymond Domenech and his team defeat in their third and final warm-up match, a week before their tournament opener against Uruguay.

Les Bleus were already heading to South Africa in disarray following a dismal performance in the qualifiers and their confidence has taken another knock of late. Friday night's defeat capped a series of disappointing results which has seen them held to a 1-1 draw by Tunisia and come from behind to narrowly beat Costa Rica 2-1.

Ivory Coast claimed a confidence-boosting 2-0 win over Japan in their final World Cup warm-up match, although it came at a cost with skipper Didier Drogba suffering a broken arm.

The Chelsea striker had already seen his 13th-minute free-kick take a deflection off defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka to give his side the lead before he was forced off two minutes later. Drogba clashed with Tulio and left the field clutching his right arm.

The injury overshadowed a contest that was sealed in the 81st minute when Kolo Toure scored from close range.

Milivoje Novakovic scored two fine free-kicks to send Slovenia off to the World Cup in good heart with a comfortable 3-1 win over New Zealand in Maribor.

The Cologne striker sent his first set-piece flying past Kiwi goalkeeper Mark Paston in the sixth minute but New Zealand - in good form after last week's win over Serbia - hit back 15 minutes later through Rory Fallon.

Novakovic's second free-kick put the Slovenians back in front on the half-hour, though, and Andraz Kim completed the scoring on the stroke of half-time.
