Euro 2012 Group D Update - September 2011

07 September 2011 11:52

Group D tightened up significantly on Tuesday night (September 6th) as France failed to win against Romania in Bucharest whilst Bosnia & Herzogovina scored in the 87th minute to beat Belarus 1-0 in Zenica. The French had been hot favorites to defeat the Romanians but a strike force which included Ribery, Benzema, Nasri, M'vila and Remy could only muster a single shot on target.

The Romanians are not technically out of the race to be qualify as winners or via the play-offs, but with easy home fixtures for both the French and the Bosnians on October 7th it is almost certain that the the top two in the group will already have been decided by the time that France play Bosnia on October 11th. It could be an explosive night in Paris where a draw will be sufficient to see the hosts through as group winners and subject Bosnia to the lottery of the play-offs. However with Les Bleus attack mis-firing and Edin Dzeko on a scoring hot streak, anything is possible on the night.

Remaining Fixtures:

October 7th

Romania v Belarus

Bosnia & Herzegovina v Luxembourg

France v Albania

October 11th

Albania v Romania

France v Bosnia & Herzegovina
