Benzema improving but doubtful for Paraguay
France striker Karim Benzema, who is still recovering from an adductor strain, said Friday he was working his way back to full fitness but admitted he was doubtful for Sunday's friendly against Paraguay.
"It's better, there's no reason to worry. I'm looking after it and it's improving. I'm doing much better," said Benzema at France's pre-World training camp in Clairefontaine, having only arrived there on Wednesday after helping Real Madrid win the Champions League last Saturday.
"I'm recovering, I did some running (Thursday), and this afternoon I'm going to work on my fitness. (The friendly on) Sunday will come a bit too soon, I think it's more likely I'll be back with the team on Wednesday.
"I have no pain. (But) the adductor is always a bit complicated, there's a slight fear of shooting. Today it's better and I hope to be back soon," added Benzema.
Aside from Sunday's friendly in Nice, France will also face Jamaica in Lille on June 8 before heading to the finals in Brazil.
Didier Deschamps' side opening their World Cup campaign against Honduras on June 15. They've also been drawn alongside Switzerland and Ecuador in Group E.
