Continuing our countdown of the 50 players you should keep your eye out for at this summer's World Cup, football.co.uk takes a closer look at the only goalkeeper in our list - French number one, Hugo Lloris.

Name: Hugo Lloris

Age: 23

Country: France

Club: Lyon

International caps: 9

Since bursting onto the scene at OCG Nice in 2005, Hugo Lloris has been one of the most highly-rated young goalkeepers in the world.

After three seasons and 72 appearances for his home town club, Hugo earned himself a lucrative £8 million move to French giants Lyon in the summer of 2008. He reportedly turned down offers from both Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan to sign for the then Ligue 1 champions.

He has represented France since under 18 level and made his senior debut in 2008, going on to become their recognised number one over the past year and a half. He even earned himself the nickname 'Saint Lloris' from the French media after two fine performances against the Republic of Ireland in the World Cup play-offs.
