Swankie missing for Loons

Forfar will be missing striker Gavin Swankie through suspension as they look to defeat visitors Ayr and take advantage of any slip up by Arbroath to secure a play-off place.

The Loons also be without Odmar Faero, Keith Gibson and Mick Dunlop with knee injuries while Derek Soutar (back), Stephen Tulloch (pelvis) and Martyn Fotheringham (ankle) are absent as well.

Station Park boss Dick Campbell said: "Our task is pretty straightforward and that is to win. Things are not in our hands but if they could be if we see off Ayr.

"The team is playing well and picks itself so we will look to go out and do the business. We have a decent record against Ayr and want to add to it. I will worry about other scores after the final whistle."

Ayr bring a disappointing season to an end at Forfar and they welcome back defender Chris Smith after a ban however Adam Hunter is now suspended.

Knee injuries continue to keep Martyn Campbell and Michael McGowan sidelined with ankle problems ruling out David Sinclair and John Robertson.

Player/ manager Mark Roberts will promote youngsters from the club's youth academy again to cover.

Roberts said: "We were short on numbers last week against Arbroath and the youngsters did well and they will get a chance again at Forfar.

"This will be an education and they will need to learn fast as Forfar will be coming at us from the first whistle. "They have to win this game to have a chance of getting into the play-offs so we need to stand tall to keep them out."
