Hilson helps Loons to win

Dale Hilson scored a brace as Forfar got back to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Ayr.


Forfar boss Dick Campbell would have demanded a quick start from his side fllowing back-to-back defeats and duly got one as Jamie McCluskey lifted the ball over Ayr goalkeeper David Hutton to give the hosts a second-minute lead.


The Loons' afternoon improved on 25 minutes when Hilson found the bottom corner with a right-footed strike before Omar Kader's low finish made the points safe seven minutes into the second half.


Michael Moffat scored his 27th of the season from the penalty spot on the hour mark to give the away fans something to cheer before Hilson made it 4-1 with a right-footed drive into the top corner and play-off chasing Ayr were left to reflect on a damaging defeat, despite Brian Gilmour's stoppage-time effort.
