Forfar back to winning ways

Forfar ended a run of five matches without a win with a 2-0 victory at home to Ayr thanks to goals from Stephen Smith and Omar Kader.

The hosts took the lead after just four minutes when Smith's left foot drive found the top left corner and they dominated the remainder of the first half, with Dale Hilson and Kader forcing Ayr goalkeeper David Hutton into action.

Ten minutes after the restart Morton were two up through Kader when he tapped home from six yards out and just a minute later it could have been 3-0 but Christopher Templeman's header rattled the crossbar.

Ayr went close to a consolation goal in the final minute but defender Dale Keenan, on loan from Partick Thistle, headed against the post and Forfar held on for the win which keeps them second in the table.
