Forest Green Rovers chairman Trevor Horsley has decided to step down at the end of the season, but will stay on the club's board as an executive director.
Mr Horsley's decision, after ten years in the job, comes with Rovers firmly established in the Nationwide Conference and on course for a finish in the top half of the table.
An official statement from The Lawn outfit read: "Mr Horsley states that he feels the time is right to step aside and was particularly disappointed by the outcome of the recent compensation claim by a former player.
"The directors are understandably saddened by Trevor's decision, which they have reluctantly agreed to accept.
"They would like to put on record, on behalf of the whole club, their appreciation for his tremendous hard work and the progress and success achieved by the club, both on and off the field, during his tenure.
"The board wish to assure all management, staff, players, supporters and sponsors that the club will continue to pursue its aims and objectives and a new chairman will be appointed in due course."
