Owen signing a gamble worth taking?

By Shane Edwards

Manchester Untied have confirmed the signing of former Liverpool, Newcastle and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen.

It has been reported by the Press Association that Sir Alex struck a pay-as-you-play deal with Owen. Owen will also take a significant salary cut from the £110,000-a-week wages he was said to be on at Newcastle.

This is certainly a fantastic opportunity for Owen to revitalise his career, however with United being linked with Karim Benzema and Frank Ribery, aswell as Tevez leaving, and Cristiano Ronaldo signing for Real Madrid, is this a sign of desperation or is this another piece of inspiration from Sir Alex Ferguson?

Fergie believes signing Owen is a gamble worth taking.
