Robins enjoy Christmas cheer

Cheltenham extended their unbeaten run to 10 league games with 2-0 win at high-flying Fleetwood.

The Robins stunned the home side with less than a minute on the clock.

Matt Richards sent over a short corner to the near post and defender Troy Brown lost his marker to head home.

There was a second big chance for the visitors within the opening 10 minutes. Sido Jombati's cross got the better of the Fleetwood defence, Byron Harrison won the race at the back post but was unable to get his shot on target from a tight angle.

Fleetwood took time to find their feet but had a good chance to level when Gareth Evans cut across the corner of the penalty area, driving the ball through a crowd of Cheltenham defenders but into the side-netting.

Daniel Carr had an even better opening before the break when Matty Blair's cross from the right was headed goalwards by the on-loan Huddersfield striker, but goalkeeper Scott Brown was well positioned to keep it out.

After the break the home side enjoyed plenty of pressure but failed to create clear-cut chances as Cheltenham limited their options.

Jon Parkin nearly levelled with a spectacular effort, Brown at full stretch to deny the veteran striker.

The Robins 'keeper was their saviour again shortly after, Charlie Taylor's cross was knocked down by Blair, Carr stabbed the ball goalwards but Brown palmed it behind.

And Cheltenham struck the killer blow in the 93rd minute as Harrison surged forward, picked out out the run of Jermaine McGlashan, who rounded Scott Davies to compound Fleetwood's misery.
