Ash Hunter targeting Fleetwood starting berth

Ash Hunter will hope he has done enough to be promoted to Fleetwood's starting line-up against Wigan.

The 20-year-old scored with his first touch having come on as a substitute to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury on Saturday.

He was not the only one to impress from the bench, with Tarique Fosu and Jamie Proctor also helping spark the comeback in cameos, giving Cod Army boss Steven Pressley food for thought after admitting he will need to rotate his squad.

Danny Andrew (thigh) and Vamara Sanogo (hamstring) both missed out at the Shrews and are not ready to return yet.

The wet weather meant Wigan's Boxing Day fixture against Sheffield United was postponed, leaving manager Gary Caldwell with a similar squad.

Midfielder Francisico Junior has returned to parent club Everton for treatment on a groin strain while Alex Revell is back at Cardiff after his loan deal was cut short.

Chris McCann is hampered by a groin strain but the extra couple of days' rest will have benefited captain Craig Morgan after he played 90 minutes on his return from a similar injury last time out.

Kevin McNaughton remains a long-term absentee for Caldwell due to a knee injury.
