Fleetwood Town 1-1 Walsall: Report

Mullan pegs back Saddlers Substitute Jamie Mullan earned non-league Fleetwood a 1-1 draw against 10-man Walsall. Matt Richards gave the Saddlers a dream start with a fourth-minute strike, collecting the ball from Liam Dickinson before drilling into the bottom left corner from 20-yards. Fleetwood should have been level after Richard Taundry tugged down Ian Craney in the box but captain Steve McNulty crashed the penalty against the bar. Walsall then had Manchester City loanee Ryan McGivern sent off for a two-footed lunge on Craney before the interval. Five minutes after the restart Mullan made an instant impact with his looping 20-yarder flying over Jimmy Walker and into the net. Walker twice denied Nathan Pond and brilliantly kept out Lee Thorpe's shot in the closing stages as the Saddlers held out for a replay.
