Cod Army drought continues

Promotion hopefuls Fleetwood made it 270 minutes without a goal as they drew 0-0 at home against AFC Wimbledon.

Fleetwood failed to make the most of their first-half chances, Jon Parkin coming closest to breaking the deadlock having been teed up by Sunderland loanee Mikael Mandron.

Both sides were hit hard by injuries before the break with Wimbledon losing Aaron Morris while Fleetwood Bobby Grant's debut lasted just 31 minutes.

Wimbledon's chances mainly came on the break with Michael Collins curling effort just after the hour getting the better of the Fleetwood defence but ending up well wide of the target.

The game became increasingly scrappy as both sides looked to shut up shop.

But there was a late chance for Fleetwood to snatch all three points when Nathan Pond got a strong head to Antoni Sarcevic's corner at the back post but he was unable to find the target.

Then a foul on Jamille Matt gave the home side a free-kick right on the edge of the 18 yard box but nobody wanted to step up and shoot and Wimbledon cleared their lines with ease.

Kevin St Luce almost set up a killer blow at the other end but Harry Pell's back-post header was saved easily by Chris Maxwell.
