Viola cool Vargas rumours

Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has dismissed speculation linking Juan Manuel Vargas with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old Peru international left-back has been in impressive form for the Viola this season and has helped his side climb to fourth in the table.

He is now a key component in Cesare Prandelli's squad following his euros 12million move from Catania in July 2008.

Speaking to reporters, Corvino said: "I have heard these rumours regarding Real Madrid's reported interest in Vargas and we acknowledge it and move on.

"We are used to having players being linked to clubs.

"But we are here not to sell but to keep our players and improve our squad."
