La Viola shun Berg rumours

Fiorentina's sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has dismissed rumours linking his club with a move for Sweden Under-21s star Marcus Berg.

The 22-year-old striker shot to prominence in scoring seven goals at the European Under-21 Championship finals on home soil, sparking talk of a summer exit from Dutch club Groningen.

However, Corvino admitted: "We had a number of scouts following the European Under-21 Championships, but Berg was not one of the players under examination.

"In attack we are well covered and right now we are in search of reinforcements for the midfield."

Berg himself recently told Expressen: "I like the Spanish league, it's fantastic. The English league is also good.

"You don't know when it will happen, but that is what you are dreaming about."
