Veteran striker Christian Vieri's season is over after he pulled a leg muscle in Fiorentina's heartbreaking UEFA Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers.
The much-travelled 34-year-old missed a string of chances in Thursday's goalless draw before lashing his spot-kick over the bar as La Viola lost 4-2 in the penalty shoot-out.
To add to Vieri's woes, a statement on the club's official website confirmed the striker's injury would keep him on the sidelines for up to four weeks.
The former Italy international has scored nine goals in 12 starts and 24 substitute appearances for Fiorentina this season.
