Gio gets Feyenoord job

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been appointed the new head coach of Feyenoord from next season, the Dutch club have announced.

The former Arsenal, Rangers and Barcelona man is currently assistant boss at the Rotterdammers and will take the top job when Fred Rutten leaves at the end of the season.

The former Holland international has agreed a two-year contract.

"To become head coach fills me with pride and I am extremely grateful for the confidence that Feyenoord have placed in me," Van Bronckhorst said on the club website.

Feyenoord, the club at which Van Bronckhorst started and finished his playing career, currently lie third in the Eredivisie.
