    Thomson sad at Bairns exit

    17 Jan 2008 - 14:45:27

Former Falkirk skipper Steven Thomson has admitted that family reasons were behind his decision to leave the Bairns to join Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 29-year-old midfielder spent two-and-a-half-years with Falkirk, but opted for a return to England to link up with the Seagulls.

He told the Falkirk Herald: "Falkirk are on the up and if it wasn't for family reasons I would have been delighted to extend my stay.

"I am sure the team can achieve success in the coming years, but my wife is from London, we have a nine-month-old son and we're keen to have a bigger family, so it suited us to go back down south.

"The two-and-a-half-year deal I've signed at Brighton also gives us a bit of security in the latter part of my career."
