Stokes shines for Bairns

Falkirk boss John Hughes has hailed the impact of on-loan striker Anthony Stokes since his arrival from Premiership giants Arsenal.

The 18-year-old has netted seven goals in eight games for the Bairns, including a double against Inverness CT and a hat-trick in the 5-1 rout of Dundee United.

Hughes told the Daily Mail: "Stokes is a maverick and we just let him go out and play.

"We are trying to make him more aware of other aspects of the game such as his defensive duties.

"But, when he plays up front with Alan Gow and Russell Latapy the way he did in the Dundee United match, they can be a match for anybody in this league."
