Jags in cruise control as Bairns brushed aside

Partick recorded an emphatic 4-1 win over Falkirk to move up to second in the Irn-Bru First Division.

The Jags had lost just once at home all season and they hit the ground running against their mid-table visitors, Conrad Balatoni heading them into a fourth-minute lead.

That lead lasted just 14 minutes, Falkirk striker Lyle Taylor drilling a low right-footed shot past Scott Fox from close range to draw his side level.

That setback stung Jackie McNamara's side into action and two minutes later they were back in front thanks to midfielder Christopher Erskine's header.

Both Erskine and Balatoni then doubled their accounts for the afternoon within two second-half minutes. The latter's volley made it 3-1 in the 62nd minute before Erskine lobbed Michael McGovern from 18 yards.
