Mixed feelings for hero Finnigan

Finnigan's 88th-minute equaliser salvaged a 1-1 draw for Eddie May's men after they had looked set to fall five points behind Kilmarnock at the foot of the table.[LNB]It is now as you were for both sides heading into Saturday's crunch clash at Rugby Park.[LNB]Finnigan said: "We have to keep attached to second-bottom and I think we've done that by nicking a point.[LNB]"We have to regroup for next week and try to take the three points."[LNB]With just nine points on the board and one SPL victory all season, Finnigan knows draws are no longer enough to keep the Bairns afloat.[LNB]But going into the final two minutes at St Mirren Park a goal down on Saturday after former team-mate Michael Higdon scored a stunning 35-yard volley, Finnigan was happy with the outcome.[LNB]"A point at this stage I don't think is enough for us," he said.[LNB]"But in that situation, with two minutes to go, we'll take it all day.[LNB]"I think we deserved a bit more out of the game."[LNB]Falkirk did have marginally the better of a poor match but the lack of cutting edge which has dogged them all season was in evidence yet again.[LNB]The same cannot be said for Higdon, whose goal-of-the-season contender past Robert Olejnik came as no surprise to his former strike partner.[LNB]"Higgy loves hitting balls like that and Bobby's unlucky just to get his fingertips on it because he's been on fire for us lately and he's kept goals out for us," said Finnigan, who admitted Higdon regularly used to try his luck in training from that distance while at Falkirk.[LNB]The visitors were denied an earlier equaliser yesterday when Pedro Moutinho sneaked up behind Buddies goalkeeper Scott Gallacher and cheekily robbed him while he was bouncing the ball before netting.[LNB]Referee Craig Thomson ruled out the goal and Finnigan said: "I was on the halfway line so I'm not sure what happened there.[LNB]"Referees, I guess, should know the rules in all those situations."[LNB]Gallacher was adamant Thomson had made the right call, saying: "Of course he did - it's the rules![LNB]"I'm in possession of the ball; you can bounce it.[LNB]"It's different if you roll it out and it's away from your body."[LNB]Despite being pleased at that decision, Gallacher was frustrated to be picking the ball out of his own net after St Mirren looked set for just their second SPL win at their new stadium.[LNB]"We need to see matches out much better than that," said the keeper, whose side have now drawn five of their eight home games this season.[LNB]"We've been losing some poor goals from our point of view.[LNB]"We need to look at the video of that, see what went wrong and try to rectify it because it's killing us at the minute.[LNB]"We were doing so well, got ourselves in the lead here and we basically threw it away. Absolutely gutted.[LNB]"We just need to bounce back now next week, try to rectify it."[LNB]St Mirren had been in great form for most of October but four straight games against the top four - which yielded only one point - appears to have sapped their confidence.[LNB]Gallacher said: "If you're not winning games and you're losing some slack goals, confidence must take a little dent.[LNB]"But looking at the boys in the dressing room, it doesn't seem that way; they're upbeat."[LNB][LNB]
