May continues Bairns conversion

May - who took over the hot-seat from John Hughes earlier this month - has begun the process of rebuilding his team ahead of the new campaign. The Bairns also have their first ever taste of European football to look forward to when they face FC Vaduz in the Europa League next month and the new manager has made enquiries regarding a number of potential new players. May has already confirmed his interest in Rangers defender Andy Webster if the club decide to loan him out in a bid to revive a career ravaged by injury during his time at Ibrox. The Falkirk boss has gaps to fill within the squad following the departure of several players. Michael Higdon has joined SPL rivals St Mirren, while Patrick Cregg and goalkeeper Dani Mallo have both been linked with a move to Hibernian to join forces with former boss Hughes. Dean Holden is weighing up a return to England after being told he has no future at the club, while Kevin McBride, Steve Lovell, Mark Staunton and Scott Gibb have also not been offered new contracts. "We wish all of the players every success in the future and thank them for their contribution to the football club," said May. Striker Carl Finnigan is close to a new deal, while goalkeeper Robert Olejnik has agreed a two-year contract extension. May told the club: "Robert Olejnik is still a young goalkeeper - I think people sometimes forget that - and he has a bright future ahead of him. "I am pleased that he has agreed to extend his time with us. "An agreement with Carl Finnigan has been reached and I am delighted that Carl will be with us again next season. Ross Wilson and I will tie up the formalities of that agreement with Carl next week. "I have had extremely positive discussions with Gerard Aafjes this week but he is unable to commit to returning to Scotland at this stage due to family circumstances in Holland."
