Falkirk have rewarded promising teenage defender Thomas Scobbie with a new five-year contract.

The 19-year-old has become a first-team regular for his hometown club in recent weeks and has made around 50 appearances for the Bairns to date.

Boss John Hughes told the club's official website: "To have amassed the number of games that Thomas has at such a young age is testimony to his ability and his desire to succeed.

"I like nothing better than to see some of the young academy lads progress through the system.

"I have high hopes for Thomas and I know he is well regarded by the international management team."

Scobbie has already broken into the Scotland Under-21s set-up, making his first start against Portugal earlier this month.
