Krul ponders Bairns stay

On-loan Falkirk goalkeeper Tim Krul has yet to decide whether to extend his stay with the Bairns until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old Dutchman has made 14 appearances for Falkirk so far this season and feels he may be better suited to staying put until next summer, gaining valuable experience at a high level.

Krul told the Evening Chronicle: "I haven't spoken with Newcastle yet and I don't know what their plans are.

"I haven't made up my mind yet. First-choice goalkeeper Shay Given has suffered injuries, so I may get a taste of first-team action.

"But then again, I always want to make appearances, so I'd better stay with Falkirk and gain experience. For the time being, I keep all options open."
