JJ keen to keep pressure on Bairns

Eddie May's side are bottom of the SPL with two points from five games and were dumped out of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup by a second-string Celtic side on Wednesday night. However, a first three points for the Bairns could take them above eighth-placed Kilmarnock, who are still looking for their first win since the opening-day victory over Hamilton. "It can go two ways for Falkirk," said Jefferies, a former manager of the club. "The obvious thing is that it makes them more determined to get that win to get the monkey off their back, as they say. "But there does come the pressure of getting that win the longer the run goes. "I hope they get it but I hope it's the week after we play them. "We will just be looking after ourselves, making sure we play well and if we do that then we can jump up a couple of places. "The league is tight. I thought we could have won at Tynecastle when we played Hearts the other week and a win that night would have put us fourth in the league. "We could go seventh or we can go bottom against Falkirk depending on the score so we have to make sure that we are doing our best to get seventh." Kilmarnock themselves dropped out of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup on Tuesday with a home defeat to St Mirren but Jefferies stressed that his priority, as ever, is to remain in the SPL. "We wanted a cup run, there's no doubt about that but staying in the SPL is the most important thing," he said. "We are still not deviating from our thoughts that if we can get the breaks and get everyone fit, then we will try to get into the top six and we will never give up on that. "But the most important thing is that we remain in the SPL." Falkirk 11/8, Kilmarnock 2/1, Draw 9/4
