Hughes urges Gow to stay
15 Jan 2007 - 11:41:10
Falkirk boss John Hughes again urged forward Alan Gow to stay put until the end of the season, despite interest from a number of clubs on both sides of the border.
Gow netted a last-minute winner against Dunfermline Athletic at the weekend, with several clubs having representatives in the crowd watching on.
Hughes said afterwards: "We're in no hurry to do business.
"We have a semi-final to play and we're trying to stay in that top six and we're not yet safe in the Premier League.
"If he plays his part in getting us to a final and keeping us in the top six then it's worth its weight in gold.
"There were two or three English Premiership clubs here watching him and if I was Alan Gow, I would stay at Falkirk and produce the goods.
"I think he's going to get his international recognition, even if he decides to leave at the end of the season, instead of being a £500,000 player, I think he will be a £2million player.
"Then he can go and negotiate a contract on the back of that."
