Hughes rues Scobbie red
21 Feb 2007 - 07:24:52
Falkirk defender Tom Scobbie has been told by Bairns boss John Hughes to learn from his sending-off in the 2-1 defeat at Rangers.
Scobbie was ordered off eight minutes from time at Ibrox for a late challenge on Chris Burke and, although Hughes felt referee Mr Dougal could have shown leniency, he admitted that his player needed to learn a valuable lesson.
He said: "I felt it was a very soft red card. The referee's had a good game, but I think he maybe had a rush of blood when he saw the tackle.
"I feel the experienced referees should perhaps be helping the young lads, but if Tam had been marking Burke a bit tighter then he wouldn't have had to make the challenge.
"It's just something he'll have to learn from."
