Falkirk manager John Hughes praised his players despite Monday's 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen costing them a place in the SPL's top-six.
The Bairns failed to secure a place in the top half of the table before the split for the first time in their history, but Hughes was pleased with the efforts of his young team.
He said: "Football is all about getting results and all credit to Aberdeen, they got it.
"I am so proud of my players because they gave it everything they had. I'm sorry we couldn't give our fans what they wanted.
"One or two stopped playing when we equalised but this is a young team and I couldn't ask for any more."
