The much-needed three points ensures the Bairns are now in touching distance of Inverness, St Mirren and Kilmarnock after being cut adrift prior to kick-off with a four-point deficit to make up.[LNB]Hughes has already made club history by guiding them to two domestic cup semi-finals this season and reckons this campaign could surpass anything the Bairns have achieved in the past if they secure their SPL status.[LNB]He said: "This could be the best year in the club's history. We have been in one semi-final and we are in another in the Scottish Cup.[LNB]"I am loving it because it's a fight and we will see how we go.[LNB]"I am pleased for them, they are a great set of boys but we won't be getting carried away and this result won't determine anything.[LNB]"It will be after the split that counts with the five games against each other but it brings teams closer to us and we are in the mix.[LNB]"We were resolute and hard working, played some good football and got the four goals so it was a good day.[LNB]"I think other teams could get dragged back into it, we have got the momentum."[LNB]Carl Finnigan gave Falkirk the lead in the 37th minute after steering Jackie McNamara's pulled shot into the empty net.[LNB]Mark Stewart doubled their lead in the 65th minute after latching onto Michael Higdon's flick-on before slotting the ball past Ryan Esson.[LNB]Esson was then sent off for fouling Finnigan in the box with 10 minutes left and Scott Arfield converted the penalty.[LNB]Finnigan added his second in injury time with a neat near-post finish.[LNB]Disappointed Inverness manager Terry Butcher had no complaints with the result but refused to be too downbeat with his side still a point clear of the Bairns.[LNB]He said: "I feel very disappointed because we had a lot of fans that came down and we put on a performance that was nowhere near the level that we had shown prior to this game.[LNB]"It was a bad day at the office and we have to make sure we don't do that again.[LNB]"have lost a battle but we have not lost the war. The bottom line is that we have lost 4-0, we had a man sent off and we are a point clear of Falkirk."[LNB][LNB]
