Holden fears Gers might pull together

Ferguson and McGregor were suspended for a fortnight and fined two weeks' wages by the Ibrox club for their behaviour while away on international duty with Scotland last week. The pair were involved in an early-hours drinking session following the defeat to Holland last weekend and then were caught on camera making rude gestures during the 2-1 defeat to Iceland after being dropped for the World Cup qualifier on Wednesday. The shamed players have now been banned for life for playing for their country by the SFA as the controversy rumbled on and have also been ruled out of Sunday's trip to Falkirk. Holden is aware the row could overshadow his side's bid to earn crucial points as they bid to ease themselves away from the bottom spot of the SPL and he has urged them to instead focus on their own game. However, he admits the players who come in for Ferguson and McGregor could make Rangers an even harder team to beat. He said: "It's a 90 minutes where two other quality players will come in and try even harder to try and take the opportunity. It might work out more difficult for us. "They might all pull together because of what's happened but it doesn't matter what they do, as long as we perform on the day. "If they give it their best shot and we give it our best shot, it could be a refereeing decision or anything that separates us. "On paper, they're obviously the better quality team, I'm not saying we're better than them, but it's about what happens on the day." Falkirk go into the match bottom of the table but reinvigorated by their 4-0 win over relegation rivals Inverness in their last outing. And Holden is hopeful that victory will spark a revival that will see the Bairns move away from the relegation spot, just as Inverness did recently. He added: "There was a lot of pressure on the boys for the Inverness game. For all the talk before the game about it being the biggest game of the season, the lads responded brilliantly. "There's a real feel-good factor about the place. Everyone is really buzzing and there's a really positive side to things, and hopefully we can take advantage on Sunday."
