Gus thrilled with comeback victory
Saints had come from a goal down to beat Hearts in their previous game and came through another test of their mettle after Falkirk took a 55th-minute lead when Brian McLean tapped in after Alex MacDonald had headed off the underside of the bar.
"When we went a goal behind we showed terrific character," MacPherson said. "That's the three league wins this season we have come from behind.
"I think it's obvious from that there's a terrific character amongst the group."
Saints had some bad news as Dargo went off with a shoulder injury after falling heavily while delivering the cross that led to Mehmet's eighth goal of the season.
"He has got it in a sling," MacPherson said. "I don't know the full extent of it, it will probably be Monday or Tuesday before we know. He says he has had it before."
Losing Dargo for any length of time would be a blow for Saints as the player looks in top form after netting a glorious volley against Hearts.
"He's playing with confidence," the St Mirren boss added. "I think he knows that, with the players there behind him, that he'll get opportunities.
"The two goals he has got have been opportunist goals in the way he created them for himself. That's the quality he has got."
Eddie May was disappointed that individual mistakes stopped his side building on their first goal in six games.
May, still searching for his first SPL win as Falkirk manager, said: "That stage of the game when we scored was probably our best spell.
"We were 21 minutes away from getting our first win of the season but individual errors have proved very costly."
May suffered another blow when Carl Finnigan was carried off with an ankle injury after tangling with Hugh Murray.
"They thought it was broken but I think it might be his ligaments so it could be a while for Carl," said May, who was already missing his strike partner Kjartan Finnbogason through a knee injury.
Scott Arfield also had to go off with a recurrence of his ankle problem and Burton O'Brien went off 10 minutes from time with an unspecified problem.
May added: "Burton O'Brien could be out for a couple of weeks but fingers crossed Scott will be okay."
