Duffie misses Rangers tie

Falkirk are without the services of Kieran Duffie as they host Rangers.

The defender is missing with a heel injury, while forward Lewis Small remains sidelined with a dislocated shoulder and Thomas Grant is not yet ready to return after 10 months out through illness.

Technical director Alex Smith looking for the win that will get Falkirk's season up and running, after ailing to register a victory in four league games sicne their second-round penalty shootout win over Cowdenbeath.

Smith said: "We have had a fairly intense start to the season with a number of big games and we have not settled into our best form yet. We were unfortunate to lose 2-0 to Rangers recently however winning this game would get our season off and running."

Rangers have been hit with a double injury blow ahead of the tie after Lewis Macleod and Nicky Clark were both ruled out.

Midfielder Macleod limped off with foot and ankle damage during the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Alloa, while striker Clark - who was also replaced before the break - has a shoulder problem.



Both men could also miss next Monday's league clash with Hibernian, while keeper Cammy Bell (shoulder) and frontman Kenny Miller (calf) are also out.

But Lee Wallace should be fit to face the Bairns after he was rested at the weekend after complaining of a stiff calf.
