Falkirk aiming to move second with victory over struggling Alloa

Falkirk will be looking to leapfrog Hibs into second place in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship by seeing off bottom of the table Alloa on Saturday.

The Bairns will need to do so without Peter Grant, ruled out with a knee injury, and Conor McGrandles - who suffered a double leg break last month.

Manager Peter Houston said: "We had to grind out a point at St Mirren in midweek and it turned into a very good point when you look at other results.

"We need to build on that and take the opportunity that we have to move into second place. It will not be easy as Alloa are playing better than their results would indicate."

Alloa have Isaac Layne available again after a knock but veteran striker Michael Chopra remains absent with an ankle injury.

The Wasps are looking to bounce back from losing 3-1 to Livingston last weekend and manager Jack Ross knows his side need to improve.

"We were poor and that was really disappointing as it was against the team closest to us in the league," he said.

"It has left us in a situation where we have to start winning games starting against a Falkirk side that have had a great season. We are going to play at a great venue but it will only be an enjoyable day if we play to the standard that we can."
