Falkirk rout East Stirling

Falkirk may have been missing the green, green grass of home but they made light of unusual surroundings as they crushed East Stirling 5-0 in the Scottish League Cup.

The Bairns' first round tie had to be moved to Clyde's Broadwood Stadium as a Tom Jones concert was taking place at the Falkirk Stadium.

But it mattered little as Aaron Muirhead's thunderbolt volley from distance opened the scoring, giving East Stirling keeper Richard Barnard no chance as it clipped the crossbar on its way in after just 17 minutes.

The hosts hit a post through Blair Alston just before the break, but the floodgates opened after the interval.

John Baird's exquisite lob set the ball rolling after 57 minutes, before William Vidler put through his own net 11 minutes later to make it 3-0.

Robert McHugh, whose shot was deflected for the third, got on the scoresheet moments later and then Alston got his goal to complete the rout late on.
