Bairns too strong for Pars

Falkirk maintained their strong to the season by beating Dunfermline 2-1 in the second round of the Scottish League Cup.

The Bairns retained their unbeaten record, stretching it to seven games thanks to an own-goal from Callum Morris and Jay Fulton's strike either side of Jordan Moore's equaliser.

Dunfermline conceded four at the weekend despite beating Stenhousemuir and their defence was breached after 20 minutes when Morris knocked Kieran Duffie's cross into his own net.

The visitors responded well, though, and were level eight minutes later as Moore collected a cross from the left to drill home inside the area.

However, that lead would last only three minutes.Good build-up play between Craig Sibbald and Philip Roberts preceded Fulton curling in a fine finish.

The hosts' goalkeeper Michael McGovern made a top stop to keep out Joshua Falkingham before the break while Ryan Thomson fired just wide as the Pars failed to find an equaliser.
