Bairns too good for Sons

Falkirk kept up the pressure on the two sides above them in the Scottish Championship with a 2-0 win over 10-man Dumbarton.

The Bairns recovered from back-to-back losses thanks to goals in either half from David McCracken and Rory Loy.

Striker Loy went close in the first period when he curled a long-range effort narrowly over the top before Mark Beck also missed the chance from close range.

The hosts did go ahead 25 minutes in, McCracken side-footing home from Mark Millar's corner.

Dumbarton were offering little attacking threat themselves and goalkeeper Michael McGovern was not to be beaten when Mark Gilhaney did test him from distance.

Loy went close and Beck nodded against the crossbar before the former added a second, beating the offside trap to coolly finish.

Dumbarton finished with 10 men when Hugh Murray was sent off for a second bookable offence.
