Barr relishes Scotland call

Falkirk defender Darren Barr admitted to being shocked at being handed a first call-up to the Scotland senior squad.

The 23-year-old has been named in the squad for the friendly against Northern Ireland, having impressed for the Bairns in the last few months.

Barr told Sky Sports News: "I actually found out when the physio told me I was urgently needed by the gaffer, so I thought I had done something wrong and I was waiting for a caning, so I was delighted when he told me.

"I could not believe it, I thought it was a wind-up at first, so I am very surprised.

"I think I have improved as a player, but I think a lot of it is down to the gaffer (John Hughes) and the players around me they have helped a lot."
