Falkirk manager John Hughes was pleased to see his side move off the foot of the SPL table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Kilmarnock.

Goals from Steve Lovell and Scott Arfield gave the Bairns the points at Rugby Park, with Hamilton Academical slipping into bottom spot as a result.

Hughes said: "The league position has never really concerned me, last year we only picked up nine points in the first quarter of the season and we're already sitting on ten with a game to go.

"From the start of the season, we've been ravaged by injury. I had 14 players out and then there are sendings-off and penalties.

"So, if it evens itself out, we'll be in the Champions League."
