Bairns snap up Stewart

Falkirk snapped up Aberdeen striker John Stewart for £50,000 on a three-year contract before the transfer window slammed shut on Thursday.

The 21-year-old had been with the Dons for more than three years, but had failed to hold down a regular first-team spot and has opted for a fresh start with the Bairns.

Falkirk boss John Hughes told the club's official website: "John is a player that I have admired for some time.

"He is young, ambitious and fits the criteria for what we look for in players at our club.

"I look forward to working with him and I am sure that he will continue to improve as a player here."
