Exeter City boss Eamonn Dolan was overjoyed with his side's 1-0 home win over Stevenage Borough on Saturday.
A late goal from debutant Dwane Lee clinched the three points for the Grecians, but it was the manner of the victory over a side he rates as one of the best in the Conference that delighted Dolan.
He told BBC Radio Devon: "Stevenage have excellent individuals and when you play against those sorts of players you have to match it.
"We started hesitantly but we probably cancelled each other out.
"But for us to grind out a win like that leaves me absolutely ecstatic. It gives us a platform to go on from."
