Veteran frontman Jamie Cureton is hopeful that he has impressed Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale enough to warrant earning a contract.
The 34-year-old, who was recently with Norwich City, has featured in the Grecians' recent friendly fixtures and wants to have something in place as soon as possible.
Speaking to the Express and Echo, he said: "I think the manager has been pleased with me. I hope we will start talking about my future this week.
"How I do will determine what the manager's thoughts are and whether he thinks I can come in and do a job. Hopefully I have done enough so far and I hope to do more this week and then we will be able to sit down and talk.
"If he wants me to stay then great, but if it's not right then we move on. I'm hoping we sort something out either way soon."
