Jamie Cureton scored his first two goals for Exeter to win a pulsating local derby as they beat Yeovil 3-1. The striker, freed by Norwich at the end of last season, beat defender Adam Virgo to a long ball in the 10th minute and fired past the advancing keeper John Sullivan. Yeovil fought for the equaliser but pressure on the Exeter goal resulted in a melee just before half-time and Yeovil striker Sam Williams was red carded for a headbutt on Troy Archibald-Henville who picked up a yellow. Yeovil's efforts were finally rewarded on 76 minutes when Andrew Welsh collected a long clearance on the right and cut inside the box to fire past the right-hand of keeper Paul Jones. The Glovers were on terms for just two minutes. City broke down the right and Jake Thomson's cross was expertly turned in by Cureton. As the game went into stoppage time Exeter were given a free-kick on the edge of the box and Ryan Harley floated a beauty into the roof of the net.
