Still backs postponement

Dagenham manager John Still wanted to take a difficult decision away from Exeter by offering to postpone the npower League One clash between the two sides. The match was due to take place on Saturday but was called off following the tragic death of Exeter forward Adam Stansfield on Tuesday. Stansfield, 31, died after a battle with bowel cancer. Still told the Herald Express: "These are absolutely tragic circumstances. I spoke to Steve Perryman and Paul Tisdale and said that, if they felt they had lost a friend and the club felt that at this time it wasn't right for them, then I would be 100% behind a postponement. "I wanted to try and take what could have been a difficult decision away from the football club. "For such a fit lad to lose his life in these circumstances comes as a shock. We were aware of that and my own recommendation was that we put Exeter first and not ourselves."
