Stansfield boost for Grecians

Exeter boss Paul Tisdale has spoken of his delight after seeing fans' favourite Adam Stansfield back in training. The striker was diagnosed with bowel cancer back in April before undergoing a successful operation to remove part of his colon. Stansfield has now put back the start of his chemotherapy in order to join the rest of his team-mates in pre-season training, but Tisdale insists there is no pressure on the player. "It was great to see him," Tisdale told the Express & Echo. "He has lost weight but he is a lot more happy than he was at the end of last season. "He has got a long drawn out six months ahead of him but it was lovely to see him on the first day back. He was so desperate to be here that he put his chemotherapy back a day to be here. He wants to keep as active as he can. Tisdale added: "We are not even broaching the subject of when he might return. When he feels like he can't do anything then he will step out."
